Baby Connor - 4 weeks
Hello. Merry Christmas.
I want you to meet Baby Connor. I photographed him 2 days before Christmas. He was born just days before Thanksgiving. And now he is about to celebrate his 2nd holiday already. Baby Connor was just one day away from being One Month old on the day of our shoot. Exciting, eh?
Connor has a very cool big brother too. His name is Trevor, who is now 2 and a half. I still remember the day I photographed little Trevor, he was only 6 months old. Look how much he has grown up already. As a photographer, it's always very rewarding to see these babies who I've once photographed all grown up.
During our photo shoot, Baby Connor decided that he didn't want to miss any of the excitement happening in the photo shoot and tried to stay awake for most part of his session. His mommy and I stayed patiently together and waited till he felt asleep... and about 2 hours into our session, the little guy was still awake. I can tell he was fighting real hard to stay awake though. And finally, we tried the car seat trick and he fell asleep shortly after that. Whew!
It was very cute to be able to get lots of awake shots because these tiny ones always give you so many different expressions. But it is always the sweetest, to be able to capture these newborns sleeping as they do most of their days. I remember telling Connor's mommy that I could probably sit there all day just to watch a baby sleep. It's just the sweetest thing ever!
Big brother Trevor loves his little brother so much.
He finally gave up and slept ... and even let me wrap him up too.
I love the little fur on newborns.
Two of my favorite in newborns ... little toes and belly buttons. Oh, so yummy!

Baby Yoon & Big Bro Joon
I knew this would be a good photo shoot when the 3 year old little boy greeted me at the door with a BIG happy smile and a 'hello'. What a friendly kid he was. Then comes little 14 month old baby 'Yoon' (that's her cute little korean name) who came out and stared at me and then gave me a shy little smile.
I can usually tell how my shoot is going to be within 5 minutes of my arrival. And for this one, I can tell it was going to be a good shoot for me and I was right.
I discussed my plan with the mommy on how I'd like to start the session and how we'll shoot and I was so excited to hear she wanted everyone in the family to wear their traditional Korean wardrobe for some family shots. I love that idea and I love the Korean costumes, its so pretty and SO colorful.
Throughout the shoot, baby Yoon was a bit shy and she wouldn't allow me to come 2 feet near her... so I backed away and continued to shoot her with much distance. But eventually, towards the end of our session after a whole hour and a half, I got the shyness out of baby and a few pretty smiles out of her. Oh, what a cute little one she was!
One happy family
Isn't this traditional Korean wardrobe cool or what? Love the colors.
He's showing me his 10 fingers, I counted with him... 1,2,4,8 10, is that how it goes? I said.
Daddy teaches and mommy is a designer, both artist in the house. Look at that cool artpiece on their wall.
And there is that good smile I got out of her towards the end of our session.
And you gotta check out that cool airplane & car themed room Nathan had. This room definitely screams BOYS RULE all over!

The Joe Family...

It's a privilege for me to photograph the Joe Family once again. I still remember my first photo shoot with Tyler, who turned one back in September of 2007. It was a photo shoot with their beloved grandma, who came to visit from Canada. That was when there was only 2 little boys in the Joe Family.
Last year, this family of four was expecting a little sister on the way, what a wonderful addition to the Joe family. Some of you might still remember this beautiful face of baby K, who I also photographed when she was just 12 days young ... along with her 2 very happy big brothers. Baby K is already 7 months now, its crazy how fast kids grow.
This year, the Joe family wanted a very "San Francisco" theme to their holiday portraits and thought of doing their photo shoot by the cable cars. What a fun idea! These photos definitely screams "I love San Francisco". And I'm so glad I got to capture every child's very own personality in their family photo.
What I loved most about these shots, is being able to feel the child's personality through these photos .... that silly tongue sticking out ... the thumb in the mouth giggling... or that big genuine smile from playing peek-a-boo and that very curious look that baby K gives (what great eye contact she has!)
Because I know that years later, these are the photographs every parent will really treasure... just seeing their child being who they are naturally.... and remembering exactly just that.

My boys
We got all the boys dressed up and went out for a quick photo shoot before the sun went down. This location is a place I drive by everyday when I leave home and always wanted to do a shoot there... it's a brand new road that is still blocked out, and yet to be open.
It's a little family tradition we do on Thanksgiving every year. We'll get dressed in our winter outfits and go out as a family to take pictures of the kids for the holiday. It's really fun and I enjoy looking back at the photos year after year... seeing the kids' growth. This year, I wanted to try a more urban style setting since I came across this trendy little red tie and shirt set for little Coop at the store that was screaming at me to buy it. It was SO cute, I had to get it.
Mommy Tip of the Day:
I encourage all the mommys out there to start a 'picture taking tradition' with their own family... whether its summer time, winter time or back to school. Don't worry so much about not having the best camera in the world or the best photos to show, that is not the important part. The importance of these photos are to be able to capture your kids personality at that age, documenting them at that stage in their life. Looking back at these photos of the same month, year after year will amaze you.
And if you're a super mom who's very ambitious and organized, putting these photos in a scrapbook album with a title such as "Thanksgiving","Christmas" or "Back to School" would be a wonderful gift for your child someday when he/she grows up. It is a handcrafted gift from you they will treasure for life.
Hope you are all having a fabulous Thanksgiving holiday!
...I still can't believe Christmas is almost here....

And here is a shot I love...with my boys, taken by the biggest boy in my household ...

Bev, Zack & Kai
What a beautiful day it was in San Francisco, especially at the beach. I can't believe it wasn't cold or windy, now that's quite rare for the city. It must been our lucky day for our beach shoot.
Beverly and I used to work together and we've been talking about having family portraits done for her and her kids for the longest time. We finally met up and made it happen. And I finally got to meet her 2 beautiful kids....
Bakers Beach is a beautiful beach and it is also known as a nude beach. And boy, did we see a bunch of that. Two middle aged men won't stop talking around naked in the background?! How distracting! I had to wait for the nude man to walk away or dodged him out of my photos. I did take a few shots of the family with the naked man in the background just hanging out though... (just for some fun memories - Ha). I bet you guys can't wait to see those!?
Thanks for being such good sports during the photo shoot Kai and Zack. And Zack, thanks for working the camera so well after all... you've got a great smile, especially when your mom and sister tried to kiss you!

Lexie
Meet little Lexie. She is 6 years old. Big brown eyes with black and brown hair. Oh yeh, it's not your typical kids portrait session but she's a real beauty though... just like a little princess.
Lexie is Patti & Arthur's beloved child. She's a long-hair chihuahua, with a bit of a pomeranian mix in her. Despite her age, she was as active as a puppy and full of love and energy. She's also extremely smart and very well trained by her beloved parents. I can tell how much love Lexie must get at home. She listens very well and was so cute when she's focused and concentrating... her ears would pop straight up.
What a cute little family of 3. And what a perfect location they have chosen for their special shoot. Everything was just right and perfect.
Lexie enjoying the beautiful day and breeze with her eyes closed...

She's very focused ...

Grace @ 34 weeks
She was one of the youngest mother-to-be I've shot... and also one of the cutest ones too. With a jolly personality, she was so easy to work with. She laughed so easily and smiled so naturally. And at 34 weeks, her belly was pretty small compare to many others I've seen. We even tried to make her belly stick out more so it would look more round for certain shots. Oh, and we didn't forget her first baby, Trixie, she stopped by for a quick shot too.
Can you tell she's having a baby girl? I can, her belly grows in such a round shape. It doesn't stick out forward like most expecting moms do,when they're having a boy (mine did with both my boys). Maybe it's an old-wives tale... but I like to believe its true. I bet the two lovebirds are anxious to meet their little girl VERY soon.
Congrats to the both of you. I can already tell that its going to be one beautiful baby girl from the two of you.

One Beautiful Mom @ 38 weeks
This first time mom-to-be is so excited to meet her little one. She has no idea if she is having a boy or a girl. But that didn't stop her and her sweet husband from picking a name together that suits either gender for this little one. (Hint: It starts with a H).
Just look at that beautiful belly at 38 weeks. She could literally be in labor anytime during our shoot, but luckily, that didn't happen, of course. She's not even having any contractions yet.
I'm looking forward to meet baby H ... and I will be back there again to do another photo shoot for this newborn... ohhh, I can't wait.
Stay tune for more newborn shots from this belly....
