Behind the Scene

One of the best ways for many of you to see what kind of environment I work with during my photo shoots, can be seen here. These are some images that my client's sister took from one of our newborn session.

I work with a minimal set up, simple backdrops, a bean bag, a few wraps and most importantly, I use natural light that comes through into the house. Sometimes, I can make a room look like a typhoon has just hit during the making, but that is just a part of how it usually goes. But I always try to help clean up the best before I leave though.

{ Remember } the Outtakes

From every photo session, there will be some shots that I would end up having to throw away... shots like blinking eyes, baby cries, baby grabbing his own face, 'oh-I'm-not-ready' expression shots or just sibling poking at baby's eyeball, etc. Usually, I would just throw those out and it'll never see the light of day... but this year, I've decided to keep them in a separate folder, which I would sometimes look back to and just laugh. Well, I figured it might actually be entertaining to let a few of those shots out to see some light.

Here are my Top 3 favorite outtakes from this year.

This gorgeous mama gets a feel of what a true spit-up looks like on her nice black top.


This baby sleeps comfortably with his binky and reminds us to always give PEACE a chance.


And this shot here, was taken towards the very end of our session. I truly believe that a baby can speak through body language. I mean, tell me that's not true here. My dear sweet little one, thanks for letting me know that you are SO done with me ... 'cause I didn't realize that you've sent me a special message until I came home to edit this shot.

Ready, Action!

I never knew how I looked like during my photo shoots... until a friend of mine took a shot of me photographing a newborn. The image on the right is the shot taken from that session. Don't you just love the way a newborn stretches? Its so adorable.

Ladybug

Besides shooting cute precious little babies and belly growing mamas and chubby babies, I often shoot bugs and insects as well.

I found this photo on my HD the other day. An image I have forgotten to process.

Say hello to Miss LadyBug who is now in bug heaven.

Mr.Lizard

I picked up my little Aidan from school today. And as we pulled up to our driveway, guess what we saw in our frontyard? A new little reptile friend.

Meet Mr.Lizard. Aidan and I stayed outside to observe this little thing. His movements were so fast. I had Aidan keep an eye on him while I ran to get my camera.

Reptiles creep me out... their texture, their skin. Ewww. But of course, toddlers finds it SO interesting to see. I hope Aidan is happy I captured these for him to see. I showed him these pics and he was counting how many toes this lizard have.

"Which one is your favorite one?" I asked. "The bottom one, where he's is in the bushes... because it looks COOL!" said Aidan.

Floral

Besides my love for children photography... I also love to do still life photography. Sometimes I try to shoot products or food shots to practice my skills outside of just portraits of people and babies. And another favorite of mine? Pink!

So this past weekend, I walked around my neighborhood and noticed how beautiful my neighbor's flowers are. It sure made me realize how much time I needed to spend on my own frontyard than I do on my computer.

So enjoy a little change of scenery here everyone. No babies photos for today.... because sometimes I really need to remind myself to just .... 'Stop and smell the roses'.

Love Bugs

Rarely do I ever photograph bugs or insects. But while I was at one of my photo shoots at the park I couldn't help but notice these 2 bugs "mating" right next to my little 13 month old client. I quickly took a shot of this before his mommy flicked the bugs off the bench in case they decided to attack the little guy who was touching everything he could get his hands on.

I usually find bugs very disgusting but these bugs were kind of interesting ... although they do kind of remind me of cockroaches a bit. (Oh yuck). Well, I thought I'd share one of my very few bug shots with you all as a change of scenery from all cute baby faces (Ha).

Does anyone know what kind of bugs these are?
