Baby Connor - 4 weeks
Hello. Merry Christmas.
I want you to meet Baby Connor. I photographed him 2 days before Christmas. He was born just days before Thanksgiving. And now he is about to celebrate his 2nd holiday already. Baby Connor was just one day away from being One Month old on the day of our shoot. Exciting, eh?
Connor has a very cool big brother too. His name is Trevor, who is now 2 and a half. I still remember the day I photographed little Trevor, he was only 6 months old. Look how much he has grown up already. As a photographer, it's always very rewarding to see these babies who I've once photographed all grown up.
During our photo shoot, Baby Connor decided that he didn't want to miss any of the excitement happening in the photo shoot and tried to stay awake for most part of his session. His mommy and I stayed patiently together and waited till he felt asleep... and about 2 hours into our session, the little guy was still awake. I can tell he was fighting real hard to stay awake though. And finally, we tried the car seat trick and he fell asleep shortly after that. Whew!
It was very cute to be able to get lots of awake shots because these tiny ones always give you so many different expressions. But it is always the sweetest, to be able to capture these newborns sleeping as they do most of their days. I remember telling Connor's mommy that I could probably sit there all day just to watch a baby sleep. It's just the sweetest thing ever!
Big brother Trevor loves his little brother so much.
He finally gave up and slept ... and even let me wrap him up too.
I love the little fur on newborns.
Two of my favorite in newborns ... little toes and belly buttons. Oh, so yummy!

Baby Yoon & Big Bro Joon
I knew this would be a good photo shoot when the 3 year old little boy greeted me at the door with a BIG happy smile and a 'hello'. What a friendly kid he was. Then comes little 14 month old baby 'Yoon' (that's her cute little korean name) who came out and stared at me and then gave me a shy little smile.
I can usually tell how my shoot is going to be within 5 minutes of my arrival. And for this one, I can tell it was going to be a good shoot for me and I was right.
I discussed my plan with the mommy on how I'd like to start the session and how we'll shoot and I was so excited to hear she wanted everyone in the family to wear their traditional Korean wardrobe for some family shots. I love that idea and I love the Korean costumes, its so pretty and SO colorful.
Throughout the shoot, baby Yoon was a bit shy and she wouldn't allow me to come 2 feet near her... so I backed away and continued to shoot her with much distance. But eventually, towards the end of our session after a whole hour and a half, I got the shyness out of baby and a few pretty smiles out of her. Oh, what a cute little one she was!
One happy family
Isn't this traditional Korean wardrobe cool or what? Love the colors.
He's showing me his 10 fingers, I counted with him... 1,2,4,8 10, is that how it goes? I said.
Daddy teaches and mommy is a designer, both artist in the house. Look at that cool artpiece on their wall.
And there is that good smile I got out of her towards the end of our session.
And you gotta check out that cool airplane & car themed room Nathan had. This room definitely screams BOYS RULE all over!

The Joe Family...

It's a privilege for me to photograph the Joe Family once again. I still remember my first photo shoot with Tyler, who turned one back in September of 2007. It was a photo shoot with their beloved grandma, who came to visit from Canada. That was when there was only 2 little boys in the Joe Family.
Last year, this family of four was expecting a little sister on the way, what a wonderful addition to the Joe family. Some of you might still remember this beautiful face of baby K, who I also photographed when she was just 12 days young ... along with her 2 very happy big brothers. Baby K is already 7 months now, its crazy how fast kids grow.
This year, the Joe family wanted a very "San Francisco" theme to their holiday portraits and thought of doing their photo shoot by the cable cars. What a fun idea! These photos definitely screams "I love San Francisco". And I'm so glad I got to capture every child's very own personality in their family photo.
What I loved most about these shots, is being able to feel the child's personality through these photos .... that silly tongue sticking out ... the thumb in the mouth giggling... or that big genuine smile from playing peek-a-boo and that very curious look that baby K gives (what great eye contact she has!)
Because I know that years later, these are the photographs every parent will really treasure... just seeing their child being who they are naturally.... and remembering exactly just that.
